The best drama series since the Sopranos, The Black Donnellys has been axed.

Excellent acting, excellent script.  But it’s been bombed out by NBC.

Sad but true, and it had so far to go.  I’m still wondering what happened between the Donnellys and Doakie after the shootout….

Well, hopefully we will know what happens to Dokie and Ma in season 2! The fans are campaigning to save the show. See the bulletin below for information. You can also visit http://www.thefirecrackerlounge.com to chat with other fans!

    Hey TBD fans!

I’m sending out this bulletin to let you know that we’ve renewed our efforts to save TBD. This time around, we are focusing our efforts on HBO (and if need be, other networks later on) since NBC appears to be doing everything it can to squash the Save TBD campaign (including deleting all of our posts over at nbc.com). Therefore, we’ve created our own website containing information about the Save TBD campaign. You can find all of the information you need about the ongoing campaign efforts at http://www.savetheblackdonnellys.net. Our current campaign initiatives are focused on spreading the word about the campaign and sending shamrocks, quarters, and crackers (for the “firecrackers” ;) to HBO. To make things really easy, we’ve even included a “Donate” button on the campaign website so that you can contribute to the bulk shipment of crackers that we plan to send to HBO soon. In addition, each day we post a new “Daily Action Item” on the campaign site. These items are targeted at creating the most buzz about TBD and letting HBO know how much we want a second season. Best of all, the daily action items take only 5-15 minutes to do so everyone can participate. Finally, we’ll continue to discuss the campaign, new ideas, and our progress in the “Firecrackers” section here at The Firecracker Lounge. We need everyone to help with they can. Please join us in the fight to bring back the Donnelly brothers for season 2. Thank yo

I agree, this series had excellent acting and excellent writing!

There’s still very much hope and a loud fight to bring back a second season! For those who have HDTV, you can subscribe to watch the entire first season on HDNet. That is definitely a better way for the series to pick up more viewers as viewers who invest their time in watching the show will be able to watch the entire season! Unlike like the treatment The Black Donnellys received while they were aired on NBC.com

News about the DVD release indicate the DVD will be available on September 4, 2007! So at least, we will be able to keep this great series in our Home DVD collections. Amazon.com has the DVD available for pre-ordering!

    Don’t give up faith!

a show like this does not come often to regular tv. nbc’s mistake of taking it off the air before marketing correctly to find it audience is a travesty ! my son and i love this show and had a great evenings every monday night together (even when i was out of town) we would talk on the phone and have fun hashing over the show. realty tv is cheap and fast money for the networks, this is not a way to develop great t.v. - hopefully another network can afford to pick it up after nbc sold out to the all mighty dollar.

You’re not the only one still wondering what happened after the finale! Fans have created a campaign targeted at bringing back the Black Donnellys for season 2. Check out http://www.savetheblackdonnellys.net or the “Firecrackers” section at http://www.thefirecrackerlounge.com for more information. However, for the time being, I’m watching Season 1 on HDNet on Wednesday evenings at 8 pm EST and am looking forward to picking up the DVD when it comes out on September 4. (Amazon.com has a great deal on price and is offering free shipping!)
